City Of Trinidad Dispatcher in Trinidad, Colorado

Dispatcher

MUSTS: Required Education and Experience: High school education or G.E.D. and six to twelve months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other Necessary Requirements: Must possess a valid current state-issued driver's license and not be under suspension, revocation or denial nor have any prior alcohol related driving offenses within the last five years. Successful candidates must pass a background investigation and drug screen prior to employment. Maintains certification in CPR, first aid and Emergency Medical Dispatch. Must be able to obtain and maintain CCIC/NCIC certification. Must successfully test for certification on terminal within six (6) months from date of hire. Successful candidates must pass a physical and psychological examination in accordance with job duties.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: Computers and programs, utilities, and municipal operations FCC Rules and Regulations Skilled in: Excellent communication skills both oral and written Listening and verbal communication in order to operate radio and telephone systems and receive and relay information from emergency services personnel and citizens, etc. Prioritizing projects and daily workload Ability to: Analyze situations quickly and make independent decisions based on sound reasoning, good judgment, established procedures and proper interpretation of City ordinances. Perform duties independently and with initiative. Work in a fast paced environment, while being able to maintain a professional and courteous attitude. Demonstrate strong organization skills and a willingness to be pro-active and accept new challenges. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions. Maintain effective working relations with superiors and subordinates. Learn the operation of a two-way radio system. DUTIES: Responsible for dispatch of Police, Fire, EMS, Rural Fire, and Sheriff units to emergency situations. Maintains records and handles citizen's calls. Regular and predictable attendance in the performance of this job is an essential function. Receives complaints from individuals by telephone, E911, and email. Operates two-way radio to dispatch Police, Fire, EMS, Rural Fire, and Sheriff units to emergency situations and maintains communication with public safety units in the field. Maintains a variety of records and forms. Handles complaints and assigns response. Operates telephone, E911 system PSAP, and NCIC and CCIC terminals. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor Works rotating shifts, including nights, holidays and weekends; work on an on-call basis Obtains complete and accurate information from individuals who during emergency situations may be emotionally distraught, angry or difficult to understand.

PAY: $21.31/hour

BENEFITS: Available, to be discussed with new hire.

STARTS: As soon as possible.

SHIFT: Works rotating shifts, including nights, holidays and weekends; work on an on-call basis.

SITE: Trinidad, CO.
