This position is responsible for collecting, maintaining and disseminating complete, accurate and timely adult and juvenile Predatory Offender Registration (POR) information for individuals meeting registration requirements for Minnesota and Out-of-State offenses. This position serves as a subject matter expert in the area of POR information and works with all facets of the criminal justice system to ensure that state statutes, as well as other federal, out-of-state, local rules and policies are applied appropriately to provide the most comprehensive picture of an individual’s POR record.

Minimum Qualifications

1.) Two (2) years of experience analyzing, interpreting and/or applying complex rules, regulations, statutes and the ability to explain complex technical procedures to others in easy to understand terms. (a Bachelor's degree may substitute for six months of this experience)

OR

2.) A Bachelor's degree and six months of directly applicable experience applying complex rules, regulations, and statutes in the area of Predatory Offender Registration.

AND

3.) Familiarity with the legal and criminal justice processes and terminology.

4.) Computer proficiency with word processing, database management etc.; including keyboarding, data entry skills and the ability to navigate multiple applications/databases simultaneously.

5.) Customer service skills sufficient to effectively manage conflict, handle stressful situations, put customers at ease and deal effectively with irate clients.

6.) Strong written and oral communications skills to sufficiently communicate with co-workers, clients/clientele and the general public through email, written and phone interactions.

7.) Good problem solving skills and the ability to effectively organize work.

8.) Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.

Preferred Qualifications

1.) Experience with the criminal justice system and related business processes for law enforcement, prosecution, probation, courts, and corrections.

2.) Knowledge of legal and criminal justice terminology.

3.) Experience interpreting Minnesota Statutes.

4.) Experience reviewing and interpreting criminal histories, and court documentation.

5.) Knowledge of Predatory Offender Registration requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
