Job Summary

The Office of Admissions is seeking a Student Clerk to assist our Residency area with incoming calls, emails, general questions and basic residency evaluations. The employee will be tasked with advising students on how to navigate through the residency reclassification process, help students understand the required supporting documentation and meet the appropriate deadlines. The ideal candidate will be able to relay complex information to a variety of people while maintaining excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a working knowledge of admissions policy for their specific job area.

  • Receives, sorts and distributes incoming mail.

  • Provide customer service support at our office windows and via phone calls as it relates to international undergraduate admissions.

  • Provide customer service support at our office windows and via phone calls as it relates to residency.

  • Responds to emails regarding application materials

  • Performs general office duties as needed

  • May be required to cross-train in other areas of Admissions to assist as needed

  • Answering phone calls and emails regarding residency

  • Assisting students and parents at the walk-up window

  • Completing basic residency evaluations

  • Maintaining a working knowledge of Utah residency policies

  • Other clerical and office duties as assigned

  • Incumbents in this position work under close supervision, perform repetitive tasks and may be required to perform under strict deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a current University of Utah student

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software systems

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Strong speaking/phone skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to relay complex information to students, parents, and other campus partners

  • Strong professional writing ability

  • Ability to adapt to updated policies and processes

  • High attention to detail and ability to proofread and verify data
