About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for a Head Floral Designer to join our team at Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

• Creates new ideas in flower arranging in order to continue improving standards at all times

• Keeps up-to-date on any market trends in terms of design and overall impact

• Regularly liaises with Design and MarCom Teams on upcoming special events or seasons / other trends that require the designs to adhere to

• Rosters team according to operation requirements

• Reports punctually on duty, wear correct uniform and name badge at all times

• Provides professional and courteous service at all times

• Carefully checks quality of flowers received

• Returns rejected flowers or plants to the wholesaler

• Sorts flowers accordingly to kind and size and keep them in adequate containers

• Ensures sufficient florist supplies are available at all times

• Makes flower arrangements according to the specific locations

• Ensures that flowers are refreshed and replenished when needed

• Ensures that all orders are fulfilled as per requisitions

• Has a complete understanding of and adhere to the hotel’s policy relating to fire, hygiene, health and safety issues

• Responds to any changes in the housekeeping function as dictated by the hotel

• Reports any damaged or missing items

• Maintains a high standard of hygiene and sanitation at all times

• Participates in multi-skilling philosophy of the department

• Is present and active in the training session provided by the hotel

• Is fully aware of and understands the Departmental Performance Plan

• Is aware of the company’s Quality Policy, Vision, Mission Statement, Guiding Principles and Hallmarks and ensuring that these are put into practice in our daily work activities

• Makes daily flower expenses reports charging the various sections or outlets as per their requisition

• Prepares purchase request according to the outlet’s requisitions and daily operation

• Assists in projects, which require special decorations

• Trains the florists on new techniques and styles of flower arranging

• Keeps up to date with latest trends and styles and adapts them to the Resort’s style

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

• Proven track record as a florist / senior florist in an acclaimed and / or award-winning florist studio / company.

• Exposure to large scale projects ideally with a fashion or hospitality background, i.e. Christmas decoration, fashion show, etc.
