The Manager of Medical Staff Services is a pivotal liaison between the medical staff and hospital administration.

This position is responsible for the credentialing of providers with the hospital, and ensuring compliance with all quality standards and applicable laws. This position provides support to med staff leadership, including the coordination of meetings, oversees and coordinates events and functions involving the med staff, and prepares and maintains the physician call schedule for the facility.

Required Minimum Education: 4 year/Bachelors Degree

(years of experience and/or certifications will be accepted in leu of degree)

Required: National Association Medical Staff Services Certification (or obtain within one year of hire date) - Either CPCS or CPMSM.

Preferred: CPCS and CPMSM

  • Responsible for processing applications following the standardized credentialing process to include initial appointments and reappointments. Assures that privileges granted to medical staff members are routinely updated and available to all hospital staff.

  • Responsible for ensuring all matters related to the credentialing process and privileging are followed and records are maintained in compliance with joint commission standards, local, state, and federal governmental regulations, as well as internal polices. Oversees the Joint Commission survey process related to the Medical Staff Standards and provides assistance to other chapter leaders with Medical Staff related standards. Responsible for oversight of monitoring practitioners' compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws.

  • Oversees the department budget and Medical Staff fund, variances, and assures fiscal responsibility of the Medical Staff Office.

  • Provides leadership example by demonstrating exceptional standards in issues such as teamwork, interpersonal relationships, reliability and attendance, and professional appearance. Serves as a liaison between the medical staff and administration, including but not limited to providing support at Medical Staff meetings (room logistics, agenda preparation and distribution, meeting materials preparation and distribution, attendance at meetings, recording of minutes, and any other appropriate meeting follow up). Oversees and coordinates Medical Staff social events and functions. Ensures physician break areas are well stocked and clean, reflecting a positive image. Oversees Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs, including completion of all necessary paperwork according to established policies and procedures. Manages monthly physician on-call schedule, including preparation & monthly distribution.

  • Functions as internal resource to assist with planning, implementing and monitoring physician quality performance improvement. Facilitates processes related to practitioner behavior and peer review in collaboration with Medical Staff leadership and legal counsel. Assures that all quality monitoring, follow-up and improvement processes occur in the Focused Professional Practice Evaluation and in conjunction with the quality department the Ongoing Professional Evaluation periods.
