Packaging Engineering Lead

At Amgen Breda, medicines are assembled, labeled, packed and stored, and eventually shipped to various countries worldwide. Every day more than 1000 people from 40+ different nationalities are working on supply chain processes, manufacturing, marketing, and sales of our medicines and clinical research into new medicines.

Your Impact

As our Packaging Engineering Lead you will lead packaging engineering activities for our Europe and TMEA based Amgen packaging sites and contract manufacturers, handling both New Product Introductions (NPIs) and Life Cycle Management (LCM). Your role will also involve hiring and managing staff for a small team. Collaborating with the global packaging team, you will spearhead our sustainability initiatives by developing and implementing a comprehensive secondary packaging roadmap. Additionally, you will serve as a global packaging regulatory liaison, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

• Lead and manage staff and external workers.

• Hire, coach, and train the Amgen Breda and Dublin packaging team.

• Develop a multi-year sustainability roadmap for secondary packaging.

• Align corporate and manufacturing site management on sustainability projects across all sites and markets.

• Ensure adequate staffing and execution of sustainability projects.

• Provide global support for small molecule packaging (primary and secondary).

• Stay current with scientific and industry advancements in packaging.

• Manage staffing for contract manufacturing packaging projects.

• Ensure timely delivery of packaging engineering scopes.

• Act as the EU single point of contact for contract manufacturing teams on packaging engineering (primary and secondary).

What We Expect From You

• Master’s, or BA/BS/BSc degree, preferably focused on packaging development.

• Previous experience in highly regulated industry, such as nutrition, food, pharmaceuticals, or other.

• Experience in secondary packaging development.

• Proven leadership experience.

• Strategic thinker with the ability to create and drive multi-year roadmaps.

• Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
