TEKsystems IT Specialist in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Description:

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced IT Specialist with previous Desktop Support experience to join our client in Baton Rouge as a full time employee. Our client is looking for this individual to be the onsite IT resource handling Tier 1/2 issues such as break fix support, workstation troubleshooting/builds, password resets, answering phones, managing active directory, and create new hire accounts in an end user facing role. Anything more complex than that is handled my an external IT team. The ideal candidate would have some System Administrator experience with prior experience providing desktop support. This position is on site daily located in Baton Rouge, LA.

1 Tier 1/2 technical support experience (workstations, printers, active directory, servers)

Essential Functions - List in order of importance

• Installs and configures operating systems software releases, hardware, core system software and third party products.

• Evaluates and installs operating systems product patches.

• Diagnoses and resolves complex server software/hardware issues and coordinates with vendor for resolution.

• Maintains system backups.

• Evaluates and installs patches for operating systems and third party software.

• Maintains documentation for server equipment.

• Assists with the development of business continuity plans for server and storage restoration.

• Provides technical support and guidance for PC/laptop related issues.

• Logs and resolves trouble tickets in support database.

• Provides technical support and guidance for PC/laptop related issues.

• May assist in training and development of other personnel.

• May install, configure and maintain Storage Area Network including backup or replication of data.

• May install and maintain company intranet and imaging system.

• May install, maintain and provide for backups of SQL server environment.

• Monitors hardware and software environments and takes corrective action when required.

• Configures PC workstation hardware and software as required by user.

• Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs or replaces defective PC workstation or peripheral equipment.

• Assists employees in the operation and basic maintenance of the equipment.

• Provides technical support for all hardware and related equipment. Works with vendors to resolve PC or peripheral

hardware or software issues.

• Assist in installation and setup of hardware and software for users.

• Coordinate with outsourced I.T. Company on as needed basis to solve network problems/issues.

• Maintain an accurate inventory of all computer hardware and ordering new computer equipment on as needed basis.
