GCI Communication Corp Records Custodian Analyst in Anchorage, Alaska

GCI's Records Custodian Analyst will protect GCI and our customers from unauthorized access or sharing of our information. As a champion of our information governance process, you will be responsible for the fulfillment of all e-discovery requests, litigation holds, and tasks related to Lawful Compliance, including:

  • Subpoenas

  • Search Warrants

  • National Security Letters

  • FISA Warrants

  • Pen Registers

  • Title III Voice Intercepts

Your work in this space will help locate missing individuals, solve crimes, and ensure GCI records do not fall into the wrong hands. Using sophisticated technology and tools, you will implement litigation holds and e-discovery. You’ll act as point of contact for Law Enforcement and the Judicial System including court appearances and depositions on behalf of GCI as necessary.

The success of this role and program will enable the business to comply with Federal statute, operate securely, protect its people, defend its assets, and preserve shareholder value.

*Must be able to obtain a Federal Secret Security Clearance. The FBI FISA Certification is free but requires an extensive background check and completion of the SF-86 application. This process currently takes six months to a year for completion. Full time, permanent employment is contingent upon obtaining this security clearance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administer, maintain, and monitor the company's document control activities in accordance with quality standards, requirements, and regulations. Maintain, transmit, receive, record, and distribute mail correspondence and documentation according to established procedures. Ensure that the confidentiality of sensitive information is protected. Assist with form revisions to maintain compliance with company standards and procedures. Responsible for operating within established policies and procedures, as well as maintaining compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements Career-level professional within field. Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline. Conducts complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment.

  • Fully own the tasks and duties related to Lawful Compliance and CALEA.

  • Responsible for managing the litigation hold and e-discovery process for GCI.

  • Receive, log, track, monitor, and consolidate all responses in fulfillment of court order requests.

  • Follow Attorney Client Privilege and work product protection practices.

  • Research and respond to subpoenas, search warrants, National Security Letters, FISA warrants, pen registers, Title III voice intercepts, and additional CALEA requests as required by statute.

  • Represent GCI in telephone and in-person depositions and in court testimony, traveling to support in-person court testimony requests as required.

  • Coordinate with the Service Management Center on Exigent Request process.

  • Coordinate with the Legal and Corporate Advocacy Department to obtain legal opinions and guidance.

  • Identify and collect key performance indicators as well as monthly and quarterly metrics centered on Lawful Compliance.

  • Update and maintain Lawful Compliance Operations Manual and related documentation.

  • Update and maintain Lawful Compliance Resource Center and website.

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the 3-year Lawful Compliance Roadmap.

  • Develop and maintain process for annual review/monitoring of program and initiatives.

  • Oversee and Provide Guidance for the subject matter expert business process documentation related to Lawful Compliance.

  • Assist with the development of a formalized training program.

  • Coordinate with users to process IG exception requests as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: *A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technology, security, or related field. *

  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in records management, governance & compliance, information management, CALEA, or related field. *

  • FBI FISA Certification REQUIRED, must be able to obtain clearance within 1 year of employment.

Preferred:

  • Information Governance and Records Management certifications, including, but not limited to:

  • IGP: Information Governance Professional

  • CIP: Certified Information Professional

  • GRCP: Governance Risk Compliance Professional

  • GRCA: Governance Risk Compliance Auditor

  • Other applicable and related Certifications

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel, such as, between retail store locations, offices, worksites, or other locations as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is primarily sedentary, requiring daily routine computer usage.

  • Ability to work shifts as assigned, work in standard office/home office setting, and operate standard office equipment.

  • Ability to accurately communicate information and ideas to others effectively.

  • Physical agility and effort sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively.

  • Ability to make valid judgments and decisions.

  • Available to work additional time on weekends, holidays, before or after normal work hours when necessary.

  • Travel for business and training purposes is required.

  • Must work well in a team environment and be able to work with a diverse group of people and customers.

  • Virtual workers must comply with remote work policies and agreements.

  • Background /Security Conditions: Based on the position’s business needs, background and security checks are subject to Level 3 background, credit check and drug testing; these background and security checks will be conducted on a three-year rotation basis, or periodically based on specific contract requirements. GCI will ensure that background checks are conducted in compliance with all applicable federal and state statutes, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADAAA).

    The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the core business hours to respond to an immediate emergency. As such, you will be requested to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.
